Kelli Mitchell competed in the Red Robinson talent showdown at the PNE, in Vancouver Canada, for her second time on Wednesday night. In the audience her friend Shannon Tweed spousal equivalent to Gene Simmons, was cheering her on.
Seven years ago Kelli competed in the same competition and placed in the semifinals. Kelli was wearing a leg brace and had to appear in a wheelchair, weighing 486 pounds at the time.
That very night Kelli vowed to totally change her lifestyle, which would include her daily diet and an exercise routine and she has never looked back. Even though she has the voice of an angel the fact she weighed 486 pounds, would not allow her to have the career she so desperately wanted.
Kelli admits she was a big girl and the judges in most competition were not looking for someone, which was so over weight even if they had talent, if she was ever to move on with a career the weight had to come off.
Now after losing 253 pounds Kelli fronts for the Kelli Mitchell Band, whereas before she did not want to get out in front of and audience at 34, she now has a new self image and is proud of her accomplishments.
Kelli meet Tweed on social-media site about a year ago where they discussed the Canucks, Tweed has a home in Whistler BC, which enables her to visit with Kelli. Shannon is now one of Kelli’s biggest fans; she stated that entertainers come in all shapes and sizes, so no one should have to give up on their dreams due to their size.
Backstage Red Robinson stated Kelli was an inspiration to everyone and she is one hell of a singer.
