Ryan Seacrest And Jamie Oliver Fighting Obesity Across America
First of all I personally want to thank Ryan Seacrest for his vision and following through with the vision. Ryan went far beyond anything I have ever seen anyone do for those that were truly in need of this kind of help.
Most often people that are obese are looked upon with disgust, but Ryan and Jamie are truly wonderful people, which want to help. Ryan went all the way to England to enlist Jamie into this wonderful adventure. You two are my hero’s thank God there are still people in the world that do not just think of riches, but feel richly blessed when helping others. ![]()
While watching Anderson Cooper, Larry King and Jamie Oliver on CNN, I found myself thanking God for sending this man to America to fight obesity. Our country needs all the help we can get at this point and Huntington WV needs help desperately in fighting obesity.
This subject touches home for me I was born just across the bridge from Huntington, in Kentucky. I still have a lot of family there and several of them are fighting the battle with obesity. Just within my family we have diabetes, cancer, and heart disease and all of those that are ill are fighting obesity.
You will never find more loving people in the whole world than those from the south, but when a stranger comes in telling them they are killing their children they tend to question the motives of this person. It didn’t take Jamie long to win over most of the people in the area, when they heard what he had to say.
One of the local ministers stepped up to stand beside Jamie, Steve Willis minister of the First Baptist Church of Kenova said that he believed God had sent Jamie’s Food Revolution to the area, he had been preaching about obesity for the past 2 years. Minister Willis said “If we’re the worst in the world, we have to be the most passionate in the world, therefore helping to save others.”
In the first episode, Jamie talks to Stacie mother of 4 who has lived on fried food and pizzas. While Jamie is talking Stacie she is reduced to tears by what he was saying. Jamie told Stacie what her kids were eating was going to make them die an early death.
Some of the ladies in the school cafeteria were resentful of Jamie for the first few days. When they realized what he was doing to save their children, they began to warm up to his ideas.
At one point Jamie found himself on the playground in tears, wondering if he was going to be able to get through to the community.
When Jamie was ask about Michelle Obama he stated, the biggest worry in the US shouldn’t be Michelle Obama, it should be is congress doing its job. Jamie said that he thinks their heart’s in the right place they just need to observe what is going on around them and help to find a salutation to what is killing our next generation. As Jamie puts it, the problem is bigger than just fixing school dinners, it needs to be about the workplace it needs to be about the fast-food industry, supermarkets, food producers and you. Everyone needs to be trying to have a better impact on the whole world where the obesity epidemic is raging out of control.
Jamie thinks that Michelle Obama is taking on a project that no first lady has tackled in the past 40 years and she needs all the help she can get. I am so excited to see all of these wonderful people taking an interest in people that have struggled for years to raise their families under less than perfect conditions.
Jamie Oliver, I believe that every child in America has the right to fresh, nutritious school meals, and that every family deserves real, honest, wholesome food. Too many people are being affected by what they eat. It’s time for a national revolution. America needs to stand up for better food!
Jamie has a petition that you can sign asking for your help in his quest to help America’s children: Sign petition

Obesity and diabetes are becoming more and more of a problem these days. Actually it is easy to avoid being overweight by just having the proper diet and exercise.
It sounds easy really – but for some it’s a major fight and challenge. That’s the sad part.
more people are becoming obese these days because of too much junk food and too much sugar in snacks and fast foods. “
obesity kills people, lots of diseases are triggered by obesity:”
Our country needs all the help we can get at this point and Huntington WV needs help desperately in fighting obesity. yes I agree.
Childhood obesity is epidemic. I’m appalled that my son’s cafeteria services pizza, ice cream and soda. That is the sort of food we used to have at a birthday party, not every day lunch. Kids aren’t mature enough to make wise dietary decisions so adults need to lead the way.
Obesity is the cause of so many diseases – its great to see people like this making a difference.
Surgeon general states that obesity is the number one health risk in America today.
